Vanilla Vim is pretty lightweight but the more plugins and dependencies and half understood snippets copied from Stack Overflow you add to it, the more bloated and heavy it gets… which kind of defeats the purpose of choosing lightweight over heavy.

I rather use something that is lightweight and very customisable and I believe either Vim or NeoVim are the right tools in terms of customisablility.
